Smokey Bear at House of the Lord
Smokey and his helpers visited House of the Lord Christian Academy Thursday, May 16 to deliver his message of fire prevention and campfire safety. Poster contest winners were also announced, with fifth graders Ellie Gilbert winning first, Madalene Munsey taking second and Piper Fenton winning third. “It’s so heartwarming to hear the cheers and applause from all the kids for the winners,” Pam Aunan said, one of Smokey’s helpers said. Every year Smokey brings educational materials for the schoolchildren and prizes are awarded for the winning posters.
