Evening edition of Coffee with a Cop next week

NEWPORT — Coffee with a Cop is having an evening edition of the event on Tuesday, April 15, 5:30 - 7 p.m. and hosted by My Sidewalk Cafe at 300 S. Washington Ave. in Newport. People can ask questions of local law enforcement agencies, get to know officers and learn about laws.

Water utility seeks big Priest Lake rate increase

PRIEST LAKE — The Idaho Public Utilities Commission is holding a customer hearing to take testimony on a Northern Idaho water utility’s application to more than double rates.

Priest Lake Water, LLC is asking for commission approval to increase rates from the current single, flat, monthly rate of $37 to a flat monthly rate of $98 for residential customers and $100 for commercial customers. Priest Lake Water serves 72 customers in the Marvin Estates Subdivision near Priest Lake, and when the subdivision is completely built out, the utility could serve up to 113 lots.

The hearing starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 and will end at 8 p.m. or after the commission has taken all testimony, whichever comes first. It will be held at the Inn at Priest Lake, 5310 Dickensheet Rd. in Coolin.

Road restrictions started

NEWPORT — The Pend Oreille County Roads Department is revising road restrictions, effective as of April 7.

The department added Kings Lake Road to Road District 2. The in-place road restrictions will be replaced in Road Districts 1, 2 and 3.

Road District 1 has stage one, normal legal hauling restrictions. Road District 2 has stage three restrictions on Flowery Trail Road from Westside Calispel Road to the county line, on Danforth Road from Westside Calispel Road to Flowery Trail Road and on Kings Lake Road. And Road District 3 in the north county has stage two restrictions on Sullivan Lake Road from Bob Newman Road to Highway 31, on Greenhouse Road and on the entire Sunvale Plat on Fristad Road and Dury Road.
