NEWPORT — Create has scheduled several classes for April. Jenni Barry’s Kimekomi class is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday April 19 for $36. This is the Japanese art that tucks fabric into a groove to create a design or picture. Tools, base and fabric are provided. Participants can bring favorite fabric pieces. Templates are provided for designs. Bring a snack or sack lunch.
Hand Building Pottery by Angela is another youth class sponsored by the Kalispel Tribe for youth ages 8–12 from 3:30–5 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month, April 23. Learn different methods to make various pottery items.
There is a $15 material fee that covers clay, glaze and firing.
Ben Kardos has started a youth class, Rhythm and Rhyme. This is an interactive song-writing class exploring self-expression through creative writing and music. This class is for youth ages 10–14 on the second and fourth Thursdays from 3–4 p.m. The next class is April 24. Create will be sponsoring a children’s art project at Newport Creative Districts Art Walk on April 26 at T.J. Kelly Park.
