Performers from the Oasis Jewels belly dance troupe performed Saturday afternoon.

NEWPORT — Around 27 vendors showed up to the annual Earth Day ArtWalk at TJ Kelly Park Saturday, April 26 in Newport. Local artists displayed their work, there was live music, kids’ activities and a community art project. A treasure hunt led participants through downtown Newport for a chance to win prizes. Phyllis Kardos of Responsible Growth NE Washington sets up a spin dial game where players could win everything from fruit to seeds to books. The booth also had a display on how long it takes certain materials to break down after disposal.

Shaun Deller of Kaniksu Folk School had carvings for sale and did demonstrations. He plans to teach classes at Create Art Center this year (TBA).

Create Art Center had sock and scarecrow doll crafts available for youth to take part in.
