PR Driver’s License closing temporarily
PRIEST RIVER — Priest River Driver’s License at 73 Eastside Rd. will be closed Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2 for equipment upgrades.
Newport students among Spokane Scholars nominees
SPOKANE — Five Newport students were recognized for their academic achievement, dedication and potential at the Spokane Scholars Banquet held April 21 at the Spokane Convention Center.
Each Spokane Scholar was introduced during the annual banquet and received a personalized medallion and certificate of achievement. The top five in each category received scholarships.
Newport has nominees because part of the Newport School District is in Spokane County. Each year Newport High School selects nominees. There are 33 schools participating, with public, private, traditional and alternative schools represented.
Olivia J. Sears was nominated in English, Christy L. Spencer was selected in fine arts, Brennan W. Jones was selected in mathematics, Ryder J. Riddles was nominated in science and Chase R. Warren was selected in social studies.
Christian Women’s Fellowship hosting tea party
NEWPORT — The Newport Christian Women’s Fellowship is hosting a Spring Fling Tea Party.
The tea party is from noon to 2 p.m. May 9 at Newport Community Church, 430 W. 3rd St. Pastor and naturopath Dr. Beth will be a guest speaker at the event.
