Newport baseball falls to Chewelah

Newport’s first baseman sliding to put out a Chewelah runner, but missing the ball before the opposing player reaches first base Saturday, May 3 in Newport. The Grizzlies lost 4-1. They had snapped their 10-game winning streak when they split a double-header with Chewelah earlier in the week. With Saturday’s loss, Newport is the third seed and will travel to Asotin Wednesday, May 7.
