Sharing the Dharma Day May 11
Venerable Thubten Chodron

NEWPORT — Sravasti Abbey founder and abbess, Venerable Thubten Chodron, returns from recent travels to give a Mother’s Day teaching from her book “Working with Anger” on Sharing the Dharma Day, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 11. Sharing the Dharma Day is offered monthly at Sravasti Abbey, the Buddhist monastery outside of Newport. The event is an opportunity for curious seekers to explore Buddhist ideas on managing difficult emotions such as anger, which can be especially challenging within families. People from all faiths and backgrounds can apply the principles explored to create greater love and compassion in themselves to benefit dear ones and the greater community.

Sharing the Dharma Day activities include a guided meditation, a talk, a vegetarian potluck lunch and a facilitated discussion.

The program is offered freely, and donations as well as a main dish food offering are welcomed, though it’s requested that there be no meat, fish, onion, garlic or leeks.

Registration is helpful, but not required. Find more details on www.SravastiAbbey.org/SDD.

A Buddhist monastery in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Sravasti Abbey is home to both monks and nuns.

Sravasti Abbey is located at 692 Country Lane, Newport, WA. For more information and directions, call 509-447-5549 or email office.sravasti@gmail. com.
