Her album “Colors and Covers” was a chosen Top 40 album last year, and she has played at the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and opened for Three Dog Night to a sold-out concert in New York City. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door and free for students.

Jani Gonzales is teaching “Create your own Picture Book,” a new youth class in writing and illustrating. The class is divided into sections based on age: ages 10 to 12 classes are from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. May 6, 13 and 20, and ages 6 to 10 classes are from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. May 21, 28 and June 4.

Gonzales’ classes are free, sponsored by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians. All classes require preregistration at Create, 900 W. 4th St. in Newport, or online at www. createarts.org. For more information, call 509-447-9277.

Kamori Cattadoris, certified nutritarian health coach, is leading a Power of Science presentation at 6:30 p.m. May 22.

Cattadoris will describe scientific evidence that helps answer the question, “Is food addiction real?” speaking on aspects of food addiction knowledge such as lab rat studies, human behavioral psychology, biochemical pathways toward cravings and human willpower versus instinct. The final segment of her presentation will offer takeaways for personal habits and biology toward healthier food choices.

The presentation is free, sponsored by Selkirk Alliance for Science with support from the Kalispel Natural Resources Department, Responsible Growth Northeast Washington and Create. One audience member will receive a science door prize. For questions, email selkirkallianceforscience@ gmail.com.
