Adult painting day May 28

PRIEST LAKE – There will be an adult painting day at the Priest Lake Public Library Wednesday, May 28 starting at 11 a.m. All materials are provided. This activity is geared toward participants 18-years and older. The library is located at 28769 Hwy. 57, Priest Lake.

Free auto skills demonstrations for youth

NEWPORT – Youth Emergency Services of Pend Oreille County is hosting a free Auto Skills and BBQ event Friday, June 13, 3-8 p.m. at 229 N. Calispel Ave. in Newport.

Youth will learn how to check the oil in their car, change a tire, jump start a car and more. There will be a barbecue dinner after the demonstrations. This event is open to 12–24-year-olds, only.

PRIEST RIVER - The Priest River Library will be holding a Libby app information workshop on Thursday, May 22 at 2 p.m. Libby is the free app that gives all library patrons access to electronic resources such as books and audio books from across the state of Idaho. Libby expert Naomi Strom will be leading this informative session demonstrating e-resource access as well as some of the hidden treasures that Libby has to offer. No registration is necessary.

Priest River students show academic chops

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) congratulated Brooke Ramsey and Marissa Emery of Priest River on being named to the Spring 2025 President’s List. The spring terms run from January to May.

Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.7 and above for the reporting term are named to the President’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/ spring, and summer. Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is a private, nonprofit, accredited institution with a 92-year history of educating traditional-aged students and working adults.

Innovia Foundation’s Photo Contest is open

SPOKANE, Wash. — Innovia Foundation opens its sixth annual photo contest under the theme: Make More Possible.

Limited to five photographs per entrant, submissions are due by Wednesday, July 16. Photographers are invited to submit images that celebrate the unique identity and spirit of their hometowns, neighborhoods and communities. Open to photographers of all ages and free to enter, the contest includes nine categories.

Photos must be taken within Innovia Foundation’s 20-county service area in Eastern Washington and North Idaho, and children under the age of 18 are required to have a guardian’s permission to enter.

For the first time, Innovia will be accepting video entries to the contest. Video clips must be horizontal and at least 10 seconds, and can capture people, landmarks, events and more. To support local nonprofits, the overall firstplace photographer will receive a $1,000 grant awarded to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of their choice, along with a canvas print of their photo and a feature on Innovia’s website. Each category winner will also receive a $200 grant awarded to a nonprofit of choice, a canvas print and website feature.
