Man arrested following music festival noise complaints

NEWPORT — A 25-year-old man was arrested by Pend Oreille County deputies following a series of noise complaints about a music festival taking place at 1178 Beaver Valley Rd. near Newport.

Jacob S. Oen was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Monday morning, May 26. He was initially held on a $500 bond and has been released, according to jail staff.

“It was annoying neighbors more than a mile away,” Sheriff Glenn Blakeslee said. Deputies first went out to warn people at the festival about the noise. When the complaints continued, deputies returned, and a citation was issued. No permit was requested for the event, nor did county officials know about it.

Blakeslee said the music would be turned down, then back up. After the citation, the complaints continued and deputies returned and arrested Jacob S. Oen, 25, according to the sheriff’s call log.

According to the call log, another noise complaint was made at 3:02 a.m.

According to the Destiny of Love LLC Facebook page, an event called Abducted in the Woods was advertised for Memorial Day Weekend, May 22-26, at 1178 Beaver Valley Rd.

“Abducted in the Woods is landing at our very own Communal Connection Center, Destiny of Love Healing!” the Facebook post read.

“Get ready for a transformative festival of EDM, elevation, and energetic alignment — where portals open, vortexes spin, and grids of consciousness light up.”
