EDITOR’S NOTE: The police reports, taken from dispatch logs provided to The Miner by law enforcement agencies, are not intended to be an exact report, but rather a comprehensive list of police calls in Pend Oreille and West Bonner counties. Dispatch also fields calls for the Kalispel Tribe’s property in Airway Heights.

Certain police calls are generally omitted because of space constraints. These include, but aren’t limited to ambulance calls for illness, unfounded alarms, traffic stops, dogs at large, abandoned vehicles, 911 hang–ups and civil standbys.

All dispositions for the police reports are assumed to be active, assists or transfers at press time.

PEND OREILLE COUNTY MONDAY, MAY 26 NOISE COMPLAINT: Beaver Valley Rd., Newport, report that music from event was back on and louder than earlier.

AGENCY ASSIST: LeClerc Rd.

N., Cusick, report that runaway juvenile was possibly at location.

THEFT: W. 1st St., Newport, report of vehicle illegally dumping.

TRESPASSING: Fern Lane S., Cusick, report that subjects kept coming onto complainant’s property causing disturbance, yelling.

AGENCY ASSIST: W. Walnut St., Newport, report of Bonner County Sheriff’s Office requesting city officer, out with vehicle that was driving erratically.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE: W. 1st St., Newport, report that complainant’s husband, who had a domestic violence history, was at park, walking toward complainant and her children; they were scared.

Calispel Ave., Newport, report that Green Toyota had been in parking lot for three weeks with trunk open.

LOST PROPERTY: W. Walnut St., Newport, report of pistol left in bathroom.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON: Coyote Trail & Southshore Diamond Lake Rd., Diamond Lake, report that someone was walking down road saying, “Help me, help me.”

ANIMAL PROBLEM: 2nd Ave., Cusick, report that dog kept going onto complainant’s property.

TUESDAY, MAY 27 CIVIL: Valley View Dr., Newport, report that complainant broke up with his girlfriend and she was taking items and damaging things.

WEAPON OFFENSE: Cemetery Lane, Newport, report that male with rifle blue sweater shot rifle.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE: S. Union Ave. & W. 3rd St., Newport, report of maroon Ford Edge parked behind in back with front door open, no one around.

ANIMAL PROBLEM: Hwy. 31, Ione, report that neighbor’s dogs attacked complainant’s dog May 26 and killed it.

DISTURBANCE: W. Pine St., Newport, report that while leaving food bank, woman came out yelling and causing a scene because of where complainant parked.

JUVENILE PROBLEM: S. Cass Ave., Newport, report that complainant came home after weekend and viewed her security cameras, found children playing in her yard with her children’s things.

TRESPASSING: Harworth Rd., Newport, report that subject possible camping on property has black car, complainant wanted him trespassed.

THREATENING: Deer Valley Rd., Newport, report that son was making threats to beat complainant up and block him in his driveway.

HARASSMENT: Southshore Diamond Lake Rd., Diamond Lake, report that complainant was at private beach and some subjects came up in green kayaks, were cussing complainant out and saying they were going to drown them.

ARREST: N. Newport Hwy., Kenneth Dwayne Kearnes, 18, of Airway Heights was arrested on tribal charges.

THURSDAY, MAY 29 ANIMAL PROBLEM: S. Scott Ave., Newport, report of ongoing issue with dog running

loose.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON: S. Cass Ave., Newport, report that unknown male attempted to open door.

ANIMAL PROBLEM: W. 4th St., Newport, report of dog loose, on patio area.

ANIMAL PROBLEM: S. Warren Ave., Newport, a notice of infraction was issued over two mastiffs running loose again.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE: Raylen Lane, report that someone left a black bag on her porch that is full of nails and rocks.

BOOK AND RELEASE: S. Garden Ave., Newport, Timothy Wayne Whitlock, of Newport, was booked and released for failure to register as a sex offender and making a false statement to an officer.

FRIDAY, MAY 30 TRESPASSING: Tacoma Creek Rd., Cusick, report that camera showed person trespassing on complainant’s property last night.

ANIMAL PROBLEM: Yergens Rd., Newport, report of neighbor’s aggressive dogs running loose again, verbal warning issued.

THEFT: W. 4th St., Newport, report that subjects stole items from business last night.

CIVIL: Harworth Rd., Newport, report of subject bringing items to house, was not supposed to be there.

COLLISION: LeClerc Rd. S., Newport, report that complainant heard crash on roadway.

SHOPLIFTING: Tank Rd., Oldtown, Jose Pena, 47, was cited and released for commercial burglary.

JUVENILE PROBLEM: Newport

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: Hwy. 2, Oldtown, Joseph Clark, 62, of Priest River was arrested in Oldtown for destruction of evidence, resist and obstruct, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

SATURDAY, MAY 31 NON-INJURY ACCIDENT: Hwy. 57, Priest River, report of non-injury accident in 13000 block.
