South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue used local watercraft to get to a small brush fire on an inaccessible finger of Bead Lake Friday, May 30. With fire conditions becoming increasingly dangerous, SPOFR had to utilize local watercraft to transport personnel and water to the incident. “We want to thank our neighbors at Bead Lake for graciously shuttling our crews and supplies,” SPOFR Fire Chief Shane Stocking said in a news release. The Kalispel Tribe and the USFS also sending crews to assist, including Kalispel Tribal Fire Chief Scott Doughty.
