Cemetery levy barely fails

PRIEST RIVER - The West Bonner Cemetery Maintenance District levy failed to pass with 1,384 yes votes, or 60.23%, to 914 no votes, or 39.77% during the general election May 20. It needed a 66% majority to pass. If it had been approved, it would have allowed the district to implement its improvement plan, including a meeting space for visitors honoring their loved ones, asphalt repair and extension, and handicap accessible bathrooms.

WBCMD board of directors meets the third Wednesday of every month, 11 a.m. at 681 Cemetery Road in Priest River. The public is invited to attend.
