Manley Creek fire contained
LACLEDE – Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) has made good progress on the Manley Creek Road Fire near Laclede in Bonner County. In a press release from IDL, fire crews were able to transition down to a Type 5 incident commander as of Thursday, May 29. All hand crews, modules and water tenders have been released. Two IDL fire engines remain on scene.
“Today, firefighters walked through the entire fire on a grid pattern and extinguished hot spots,” the press release read.
“The fire was placed into patrol status this afternoon and is considered contained and controlled.”
IDL was called to a structure fire that had spread to the wildland Tuesday, May 27 that was estimated to be 3-5 acres.
The structure contained diesel fuel and propane tanks, posing a danger to crews on the scene.
A Type 2 helicopter was working the fire along with five IDL engines.

Phone scammers imitating Newport Health Center
NEWPORT — Newport Hospital and Health Services is seeing a rise in caller identification spoofing, where calls may appear to be coming from Newport Health Center but are from scammers instead.
In many of these cases, fraudsters are attempting to get personal Medicare information from the people they call.
Neither NHHS nor Medicare representatives will ever ask for personal information over the phone. If a caller claims they are from NHHS but asks for personal information, it is a scam — even if the caller ID says, “Newport Health Center.”
