Fore! the Health of It: June 13
Newport Hospital and Health Services invites golfers to participate in the 2025 Fore! The Health of It Golf Tournament Friday, June 13 at The Highlands Golf Course. Enjoy a complete program of activities, 18 holes of golf (cart included), snacks, and contests followed by awards ceremony, catered dinner and door prizes. The event raises money for the hospital foundation’s charitable efforts within Public Hospital District No. 1. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. with a 9 a.m. tee time. Cost is $125 per player/$500 foursome/ add a dinner guest for $25. The Highlands Golf Course is located at 5600 E. Mullan Ave., Post Falls, Idaho. Metaline Falls Bigfoot 5K: June 14
The course takes you from downtown Metaline Falls, up Lehigh Hill, back down to circle the town along the river and finish at the town’s Busta Park. Race starts promptly at 8 a.m. at Busta Park.
The 5K is a part of the Metaline Falls Bigfoot Festival, which is June 14-15. For more information, go to www.mfbigfoot.com and click on the link for the Bigfoot 5K Registration. There is also a children’s Color Run at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 13 at the Metaline Park.

A weekend all about Bigfoot!
A town-wide event with field researchers from across the U.S., a 5K race, free entrance to a vendor mall and food vendors. From Newport take Highway 20 north for aå little over an hour. Drive over the Pend Oreille Bridge and you are in Metaline Falls. For more information, go to www.mfbigfoot.com.
Summer Slam 2025: June 21-22
The Summer Slam 2025 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament takes place at the Kalispel Casino, located at 420 Qlispe River Way in Cusick, and is a free tournament for children. The 3-on-3 basketball brackets will be set up for male, female and coed teams in age categories: ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and high school ages 15-19 (you must be in high school or have just graduated). Spectators are welcome.
For those who want to play, event organizers are accepting the first 100 teams. Registrations need to be in by May 30; late registrations will only be accepted if there is room in the bracket. Go to www.kalispeltribe.com/kalispel- summer-slam.
Newport PRCA Rodeo, Parade: June 26-28
Probably the biggest event in the area each year is the Newport Rodeo weekend. Well, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, really. The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo action is only part of the festivities. There is also a parade, vendors and delicious food.
The rodeo starts Thursday night, with Family Night at The Rodeo. The parade happens at 11 a.m. Saturday and winds through downtown Newport.
Ahh, Another Ride: June 28
Ahh, Another Ride is an ATV ride held by the Selkirk Trailblazers Club. The ride starts at 8 a.m.
June 28 at Beaver Lodge Resort and Campground before heading to Ione, ending with an after-ride and some Rocky Mountain oysters courtesy of the Selkirk Trailblazers Club. The participation fee is $20, with half of the proceeds going to the top two riders and the other half going to nonprofits in the community or local children’s sports.
Diamond Lake 4th of July Half Marathon: July 4
A casual gathering of friends, neighbors, and fellow outdoor enthusiasts, this half marathon favors fun over formality. The course runs 13.09 miles in and around lovely Diamond Lake. An optional mile-long swim starts at 6 a.m.; the race starts at approximately 7:15 a.m. ($10 entry fee or $35 with a shirt). Diamond Lake Fourth of July Boat Parade: July 4
If you’re in the Diamond Lake area on the Fourth of July, one of the must do things is watching the Boat Parade. It has become a tradition for the lake community to get as many unusual vessels on the lake as possible, with everyone wearing the required life jackets, of course. The Boat Parade typically starts at 2 p.m. at the boat launch.
Poker Paddle: July 12
Formerly the Tri-Town Float Down Poker Paddle, the Poker Paddle has been taken over by the Selkirk Trailblazers Club. Paddlers in floating devices go down the scenic Pend Oreille River in this event, now one day instead of two, starting from a public fishing area between Cusick and Ione and ending in Ione. No motorized floats are allowed, and all proceeds go to a community effort. There will be shirts and raffles with prizes. The Selkirk Trailblazers Club has yet to decide additional details as of May 13.
