Name the Headstone winners

NEWPORT — The Pend Oreille County Museum, River Valley Lifestyle awarded the first and second prizes for the Name the Headstone Contest Saturday, May 31. The purpose of the contest was to find whimsical names for faux graves at the newly created Boot Hill Cemetery. Each of the names are painted on crosses which have been placed on graves at the cemetery, located at the west end of the museum grounds.

Jeanne Guscott won first place with “Ima Dunfour” and Sherry Gratz took second with “Diane Tumeechu.” Unable to meet at the museum on Saturday, Nick Tucker received his prize on Monday, June 2. For third place he chose the name “Amy Stake.”

Selecting three names was difficult due to many clever entries. Each winner received a cash prize and two admissions to the museum. River Valley Lifestyle members Dallas Johnson, Roger Castle, Anne James and Andrea Forster said they appreciate the time and effort of those who participated in the contest.

Place your classified or display ad with The Miner and it will appear in both newspapers - The Newport Miner (Pend Oreille County) and The Gem State Miner (West Bonner County). All for one good price. Call (509) 447-2433 for details.
