NEWPORT — Youth Emergency Services of Pend Oreille County is hosting a free Auto Skills and BBQ event Friday, June 13, 3–8 p.m. at 229 N. Calispel Ave. in Newport. Youth will learn how to check the oil in their car, change a tire, jump start a car and more. There will be a barbecue dinner after the demonstrations. This event is open to 12–24-year-olds, only.

Prepare for Viking Faire

NEWPORT — Let’s Vike It, a Viking era faire, is coming to Newport City Park at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13. The event will host Viking age demonstrations, entertainers and vendors. There will be a history of the Norse people in the history tent, shield-making, ironworking, games, storytelling and more. The faire is family-friendly and there is no entry fee.
