YOUR OPINION

In response to the letter in the Miner (The meta narrative 6/4).

We don’t need some conspiratorial messaging from so called Marxist memes to see what is right in front of our eyes. We have a president, legitimately elected by the way, who is following a well tread authoritarian playbook. Attack the press as enemy of the people. Vilify a segment of society as the cause of our problems. Sow division in the populous. Delegitimize and ignore the courts. Try to alter history by removing truthful, if uncomfortable, aspects of it. Surround themself with lackeys who will unquestioningly follow their wishes no matter how bizarre. And above all lie constantly until it becomes accepted as truth. As for racist, sexist xenophobic behavior if the shoe fits wear it. I don’t loath him because of some Marxist memes but for what he is doing to the Constitutional foundations of our country.

So spare me the meta nonsense.

The Boomerang

During then-candidate Trump’s 2016 campaign, the mainstream media coordinated to smear any independent voice daring to support Trump as “fake news.” Rather than succumbing to the assault, Trump instead took advantage at every opportunity to declare that “The fake news is the enemy of the people!” and associating the term with CNN rather than independent journalists. The media’s wrap-up smear unexpectedly backfired, decreasing supporters’ trust in the mainstream media while increasing trust in independent journalism.

For over four years, the mainstream news had been “remarkably quiet” about the cognitive decline of President Biden. But now the autopen scandal is being widely discussed. President Trump, never one to miss an opportunity to troll the media, without comment reposted on Truth Social someone’s claim that Biden was executed in 2020 and secretly replaced with a robotic clone. The NYT, never having been able to resist the bait, published a counterargument headlined, “Trump Amplifies Another Outlandish Conspiracy Theory: Biden Is a Robotic Clone.” The NYT thereby amplified discussion of the autopen scandal they would have otherwise downplayed: “Nothing to see here!”

I derive smug satisfaction when nefarious tactics used by what I see as the corrupted media boomerang against them.

Awaken from trance

The human of today is being called to awaken from the trance both inwardly and outwardly and discover Who We Are on the deepest and most profound level.

To me, awakening outwardly means becoming aware of what is really happening in our world beyond the propaganda and the ways we have been controlled and manipulated throughout the ages. It calls for us to question and investigate the official narratives of healthcare, technology, politics and media (at minimum). As well as the power structures of ecocide, capitalism, imperialism, militarism and their abuses and injustices.

To me, awakening inwardly is a call to reconnect with nature, our true source of life and abundance.

It calls for doing the inner work necessary to bring consciousness to the distorted ego within us and to discover the truth of who we are as human beings who encompass both the positive and negative spectrum of life.

Both awakenings are necessary for our species to survive. We won’t be able to collectively see, understand and transcend these oppressive systems until we have an accurate idea of how our world really works and how we operate within it as infinite, sovereign beings.

Rumor Mill

For our friends on the left that continue to write about hearsay as if it were fact and a few fearmongers with TDS and /or LSE (see Pete), let’s look at some results.

When Biden took office in January 2021 the inflation rate was 1.4%.

By Oct. 2023 his inflation rate was 17.1%. Biden’s open border policy resulted in over 10 million illegal crossings with another 2 million gottaways. In four months of the Trump administration inflation is down to 2.3%. The border is practically closed. He has over $10 trillion committed in new investment in the United States. Year to date the U.S. has collected approximately $67.2 billion in tariff revenue.

The Dems are struggling to find a leader with fresh talking points.

So far their choice may come down to who can use the most creative curse words. Until then they will just continue to step in it.

Let’s All Celebrate!

June 14 is Flag Day. Yee Haw! We are going to spend over $40 million on a Military Style Parade.

To heck with USAID, Medicare, Social Security, Job Cuts, to heck with Waste and Fraud.

Better put that $40 million aside for the upcoming Unemployment claims onslaught.

Make your objection heard

There are people who seem to be unaware of the impact of Trump’s illegal actions and the lack of a truthful Congressional voice in Washington D.C. Some say they don’t follow politics or that all politicians are crooked. If one only accepts the news according to Fox or the right-wing social media, you may think the government is running lawfully and that Congress is doing its job. Nothing could be further from the truth.

If we don’t speak up now, the assault on democracy will only intensify, and we will regret our lack of foresight. The next thing dictators like “KING” Trump go after is the free press. Watch for it!

Make your objection heard.

You can help to raise awareness of the current issues facing America by joining in the sign-waving at Newport’s Big Wheel. Sponsored by Indivisible and the POC Democrats, June 14 will be part of a nationwide protest with the theme “NO KINGS” and June 21 will be our salute to Pride Month, when we will protest the current assault on everyone’s civil rights and especially the LGBT+ community. Both events will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and homemade signs are welcome.

Supply-side

economics

Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill (BBB) and America First Tariff policy will be huge. Tariffs reduce trade and budget deficits. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) just confirmed what politicians said couldn’t be done: cut taxes, reduce the deficit and lower federal borrowing-all at the same time.

That’s exactly what will happen by pairing the BBB to Tariffs.

According to the CBO, the tariffs enacted between January and May would reduce federal deficits by 2.8T over 10 years, more than enough to offset the 2.4T that would be added to extend the tax cuts over the same period. It will reallocate the tax burden away from work and production towards imported goods and global supply chains. It will reset America’s financial foundation.

This, along with the trillions that will pour into America (foreign investment) over the next few years will have production skyrocketing. Trump says he will set the corporate tax rate at 15%, the bottom of Laffer’s optimal curve and under rates around the globe. America will be the place to do business! Businessman!

Trump vs Elon; is the ‘Fight’ Real or just Optics? It has the Dem’s screaming for the Epstein files. Be careful what you ask for.

Shared journey of tragedy gives hope

This letter is in response to Shannon (Reel) Hill’s courage in sharing her journey after her son Matt’s death in the May 28 edition of the Newport Miner (‘Aftermath: Shock, grief, healing’). I applaud Shannon for her willingness to share her journey. My hope is that this may help someone who may be contemplating suicide, in a way that they would feel encouraged to ask for help.

There is no shame in asking for help. As noted in her courageous account of her journey, for those of us that are survivors of a suicide of a loved one, we so desperately wish that our loved one would have been able to ask for help.

My hope also, is that if someone is on a similar trail of grief due to the suicide of a friend or loved one, that they would find some kind of hope in what Shannon shared. Shannon, thank you for your willingness to share your journey.
