No Kings, Pride protests upcoming in Newport

NEWPORT — The Pend Oreille Democrats and Indivisible are participating in two peaceful protests over the next two weeks.

The first is the nationwide No Kings protest, which is in Newport from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 14 at the Big Wheel in Centennial Plaza. No Kings is an “action to reject authoritarianism and show the world what democracy really looks like,” according to its website, and is on the same day of President Donald Trump’s birthday parade and celebration.

The second is a rally celebrating Pride Month, which is every June. This protest will be on June 21, also from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Big Wheel in Centennial Plaza.
