NEWPORT — Newport’s Driver Licensing office is indefinitely closed due to current staffing levels at the Department of Licensing.
With DOL’s ability to operate its part-time offices limited, the Newport office is closed indefinitely while DOL assesses its capability of serving the community, according to a statement from DOL.
Appointments may be available in the Spokane North, Spokane Valley or Colville driver licensing offices. All three offices accept walk-in customers, but if an office is at full capacity, walk-in customers will be prioritized by need.
Customers can schedule appointments and check office wait times before travelling at dol.wa.gov/ appointments-and-locations.
“It’s pretty frustrating for our people to have to go to Spokane for their licensing needs,” Pend Oreille County auditor Marianne Nichols wrote in an email.
“For those having trouble getting their enhanced license for traveling, I would recommend they go to the Pend Oreille County Clerk and get their passport which will work for travel.”
