NEWPORT – Public Utility District No. 1 of Pend Oreille County (PUD) is helping residential customers save energy and money this summer with a new, limited-time giveaway of free energy efficiency products, including smart thermostats and energy savings kits.
Starting July 1, PUD residential customers can request a free Energy Savings Kit and a Google Nest Smart Thermostat, with additional smart thermostat models available at a discounted rate. Supplies are limited, and customers are encouraged to sign up early.
“This is a great opportunity for our customers to take advantage of energy-saving tools at no cost,” said Amber Gifford, Conservation and Grants Manager at the PUD. “These simple upgrades can improve comfort, reduce energy bills and put money back in your wallet during the hot summers and cold winters of Pend Oreille County.”
The Energy Savings Kit includes: Two thermostatically controlled outlets, which automatically cut power to freeze protection devices or heaters when they’re not needed, potentially saving hundreds of dollars per year.
Three door sweeps, designed to block drafts and keep warm or cool air from escaping under exterior doors.
The Google Nest Smart Thermostat helps reduce heating and cooling costs by learning user preferences and adjusting automatically. It also allows customers to manage their home temperature remotely via smartphone.
This promotion is made possible through a partnership with Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) and General Pacific, using conservation funding to deliver direct value to PUD customers. This giveaway has no impact on customers’ rates.
Customers will need their PUD account number to place an order. Orders can be made online at popud.org or by calling the PUD at 509-447-3137.
