PRIEST LAKE — The Priest Lake Museum is continuing to collect families’ oral histories.
According to a Priest Lake Library newsletter, oral histories fill in the gaps in documented history. Jim Howes, the museum’s oral history collector, collects oral histories so others can learn about the people who helped shape the community.
Howes has always enjoyed talking with others and hearing their family history, according to the newsletter. To Howes, listening to their stories is better than reading a book; he sees the expressions on their faces and visible pride in their family, community and accomplishments. His hope is that Priest Lake residents and others enjoy the voices that pass on experience and knowledge.
