NEWPORT — Burning bans are ongoing in Pend Oreille County.
As of July 18, all burning is banned, as well as campfires and other recreational fires. Gas and propane cook stoves, however, are allowed.
The state Department of Natural Resources announced the ban on all lands protected by wildfire in the county. Therefore, in accordance with a county burning control ordinance, county commissioners directed that identical county burning controls be imposed on all lands under county jurisdiction without further action from the board.
The burning controls became effective at the same time, upon the same terms and for the same duration as those imposed by DNR.
Daily updates on burn restrictions are available at 1-800-323-BURN.
