Buffalo Fun Run this Saturday

USK — Along with the 48th annual Kalispel Pow-Wow this week comes the Buffalo Fun Run at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Kalispel Pow-Wow grounds. The event is free to participate in for all ages and skill levels. Dress for the weather.

Spartan football scrimmage this Thursday

PRIEST RIVER — Priest River Spartan Football is hosting an evening of football and community support at the Spartan Football Night Scrimmage at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31 at Spartan Stadium.

Admission is a canned food item, but feel free to bring more if able. All food collected will be donated to the Priest River Food Bank to help families in need in the community. This will be the first live action look at this year’s Spartan Football team, and event organizers are hoping to get the stands full of supporters. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Join the PORPA Sprints Aug. 9

PRIEST RIVER — The Pend Oreille Rowing and Paddling Association, in partnership with the U.S.

Army Corps of Engineers, is thrilled to announce the PORPA Sprints on the Priest River — a day of non-motorized fun races and community celebration happening from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Priest River Recreation Area (also known as the Mudhole).

This event invites paddlers of all ages and skill levels to join in friendly races across Priest River.

Whether rowing, paddling, pedaling a kayak, canoeing, paddleboarding, water biking or other human-powered craft, this event is for all.

The highlight is a thrilling multi-craft relay race, where teams compete using at least three different types of watercrafts. Other sprint races will range from 500 to 1,000 meters in length — short, spirited competitions perfect for all experience levels.

Children race for free.

Thanks to the support of sponsors and donors, youth racers ages 17 and under can participate at no cost and receive a free event t-shirt. Donations help fund free participation and provides swim lessons to local children, ensuring safe and fun access to water recreation for all.
