DIAMOND LAKE – Entries are now open for the fourth annual Diamond Try Your Best Diamond Lake Triathlon. Net proceeds from the event will benefit the Inland Northwest Council Scouting America.
The triathlon will be held Saturday, Sept. 6 at Cowles Scout Reservation on Diamond Lake.
Participants will all get a finisher t-shirt, a finisher medal, a swim cap and a pizza lunch.
There are several options from which to choose.
SuperSprint – 200 yards swim, 6 miles bike, 1.5 miles trail run ($80 individual fee) Sprint – 400 yards swim, 12 miles bike, 3 miles trail run ($90 individual fee) Olympic – 1600 yards swim, 23 miles bike, 6 miles trail run ($120 individual) Relay options for Sprint & Olympic (1 swimmer, 1 biker, 1 runner in teams of 2 or 3 people, $315 fee) For more information or to register, contact race director Jim Grier at [email protected] or see the website diamondtri.pacificmultisports.com.
Free camping at Pend
Oreille Park coming up
NEWPORT — There will be free camping at Pend Oreille County Park Friday– Sunday, Sept. 19, 20 and 21. The $20 fee will be waived for these days only. There are 26 camping sites, with picnic tables and fire pits. Water is available at multiple locations throughout the park.
The park is serviced by vault toilets, which are ADA-accessible. There are no electrical or water hookups and no RV dump station.
Some camp sites are limited to vehicles 18 feet in length or smaller. Camping is allowed in the equestrian area (pending approval).
