It’s four in the morning and I’m awakened with her bark, She has spotted something a hundred yards away even in the dark.
I open the door and her day begins, she takes off like a cannon shot, She is Ruby the dog, a Texas heeler, shy and indolent she is not.
Ruby has a running mate, an American shepherd we call her Blue, Named for the color of her eyes, definitely not her attitude.
Ruby is the top dog and reminds the others of that fact from time to time, Yes, there are six male cats, and Ruby has made a point to keep them in line.
Ruby enjoys letting visitors know whose acreage they are on while traveling through, Ducks, geese, deer and elk and a large moose with what she didn’t know what to do.
There are also people driving up to the door, friends, neighbors, and delivery men, Ruby runs at them barking and when gets close lays down, just wanting to be their friend.
Ruby is getting older, but still runs like the wind and doesn’t like coyotes it’s true, She spots them, and gives chase, but knows to stop before being lured in by their crew.
When I am looking for Ruby, I usually don’t have to look very far, she is always nearby, If I get mad about something she’s done, it can’t last, she’s my friend is the reason why.
