Licett Garbe, Eastern Washington director for U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, visited the Grizzly Discovery Center at Stratton Elementary School July 31 as a representative of the congresswoman, who is advocating for President Donald Trump’s administration to continue funding GDC and other K-12 programs across the country. GDC program director Vickie Blanchet took Garbe on a tour of GDC, where Garbe met with students, parents, staff and representatives of SNAP-Ed and the Pend Oreille County Library District — community groups partnered with GDC. “These are the meals that could be cut,” Garbe said after the tour. “This is the real impact of what it has to our community.”
