Bonner County Fair this week

SANDPOINT — The Bonner County Fair opened Tuesday, Aug. 12 this year and is continuing through Saturday, Aug. 16, featuring livestock and other exhibits along with a concert, market sale, demolition derby and more.

At 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15 in the outdoor arena, the Summer Nights Concert includes performances by Wynn Williams and Devon Wade. The 4-H Market Animal Sale follows at 9 a.m. Saturday in the indoor arena, before the fair concludes with the Bonner County Brawl Demolition Derby at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, also in the outdoor arena.

Tickets are available online at bonnercountyfair.com, the fair’s website. While admission to the fair is free, general admission costs $20 for Xtreme Bronc Riding, $11.60 for the Summer Nights Concert and $20 for the Bonner County Brawl Demolition Derby, with free admission for children aged 2 or younger. There is also a $7 parking fee.

Besides the concert, market sale and demolition derby, there will also be contests, attractions and other entertainment throughout the fair.

Among the contests are livestock costume and showmanship contests, as well as the World’s Smallest Rodeo and a leadline competition at 10 a.m., the Little Folks Horse Show at 10:30 a.m. and a tractor driving contest at 3 p.m. Friday. A pie-eating contest is at 1 p.m. Thursday, an ice cream-eating contest at 1 p.m. Saturday and contests for best mullet and best beard and moustache at 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Friday, respectively.

Daily attractions include beef, goat, sheep, poultry, rabbit and swine barns from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and static exhibits from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will also be Circus Luminescence from noon–5 p.m., the Comedy Magic of Dan Paulus from noon to 5 p.m., a pony go-round from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the World’s Funniest Photo Booth from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., an inflatable play zone from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and a hay bale maze.

On Tuesday are the 4-H Fair Royalty Crowning Ceremony at 2 p.m. in the 4-H Exhibit Hall and Northwest Barrel Horse Association Barrel Racing at 7 p.m. in the outdoor arena. Before the demolition derby on Saturday, the fair will end with the Parade of Champions at 3:30 p.m. and 4-H Awards Ceremony at 4 p.m. in the indoor arena.

The Bonner County Fairgrounds are at 4203 N. Boyer Ave. in Sandpoint.
