The annual Pend Oreille Valley Relay for Life celebration and fundraiser for the American Cancer Society was held at Ellersick Field in Newport Friday-Saturday, Aug. 8-9. Area residents showed up to walk around the track to raise money, participate in the silent auction, play games and light luminaries to honor those who have died of cancer and those who are still fighting it.
