NEWPORT – Washington schools start football practice Wednesday, Aug.

20. Newport plays in a jamboree at Deer Park Saturday, Aug. 30 with three other schools, including Colville.

Cusick doesn’t play until Friday, Sept. 5, at home against Wilbur Creston.

Selkirk is playing again this year with Northport.

The SelPort Lumberjacks, as the team is now called, also plays Sept. 5 at Republic.

Spartan football, volleyball at home Friday

PRIEST RIVER – Fall sports practices have been underway at Priest River, with a home football game with Salmon Saturday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. The Spartan girls volleyball team will also start competition Saturday, with a home match against Genisis Preparatory Academy at 3 p.m.

The co-ed Priest River Spartan cross country team is scheduled to go to Kiwanis Park in Post Falls also on Saturday. Aug. 23, with the race to start at 10 a.m.

Girls and boys soccer start competition the following week, both teams playing Coeur d’Alene Charter at home Tuesday, Aug. 26. The girls play at 4 p.m. and the boys at 6 p.m.
