Sebastian McKinsey, of Boy Scout Troop 604 in Oldtown, is shown repainting the Smokey the Bear Fire Danger sign on Highway 57 in Priest River. McKinsey is completing this project to fulfill the requirements to become an Eagle Scout. Since its inception in 1911, only 4% of Scouts have this rank after a lengthy review process. “It was great working with Sebastian and the scouts from Oldtown Troop 604 on repainting this landmark sign in front of our station,” West Pend Oreille Fire District Chief Jamie Painton said.
