NEWPORT – There are two Vitalant blood drives coming up. The first drive is Thursday, Aug. 21 on the bus outside St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 612 W. First St., in Newport. The drive will run from 9:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m.

The second drive will be Tuesday, Aug. 26 on the bus outside Newport Community Hospital, at 714 Pine St., in Newport. The drive will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Free food distribution

NEWPORT – The Newport Rodeo Grounds will be site of a free food distribution Thursday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to noon. The rodeo grounds are located at 1101 W. First St. in Newport.

The drive-thru event will serve up to 250 families while supplies last. No appointment or documentation is required. The Mobile Market free food distribution is sponsored by 2nd Harvest and is partially funded by the USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
