NEWPORT — Beginning Saturday, Nov. 1, the Newport School District will destroy special education records of all students who have moved, graduated or exited from any special education program before the 2018 school year.
Destruction of these records is the best protection against improper or unauthorized disclosure, according to a district news release.
Students may request a copy of their records by contacting special services administrative assistant Keri Leslie at 509447-3167, extension 4507, or emailing [email protected] by Friday, Oct. 31. Individuals 18 years of age or older, unless adjudicated, must request their own records. Identification is required.
Priest Lake lots auction for $7.9 million
PRIEST LAKE — The Idaho Department of Lands sold five endowment- owned lots at Priest Lake for deeded ownership during a public auction, which generated $7.9 million.
Each of the five properties sold had only one bid. All leased properties had homes on them; one property was an unleased lot that also had a home.
The land is held in trust by IDL for State Public Schools beneficiaries.
Pend Oreille wastewater plants receive awards
OLYMPIA — The Washington Department of Ecology is recognizing 121 wastewater facilities and their operators with the agency’s annual Outstanding Performance Awards, including three in Pend Oreille County.
The 2024 Outstanding Wastewater Treatment Plant Award recipients in Pend Oreille County are the Metaline Falls Wastewater Treatment Facility, Metaline Wastewater Treatment Plant and Selkirk School District No. 70 Wastewater Treatment Facility.
These operators achieved excellent compliance with their routine water quality monitoring and reporting requirements, and in meeting water quality permit limits, according to an Ecology news release.
