NEWPORT — The Create Art Center is keeping busy. The final summer Artists in the Garden is from noon to 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept.
14, featuring diverse regional artists with items for sale, live music by Ben Kardos and refreshments.
Terry Robb, an exceptional blues, ragtime and slide acoustic guitarist is returning to Create in concert at 6 p.m., Friday, Sept.
19. He has 15 albums, television and movie credits. Tickets are $20.
With summer moving into the fall, several classes are also returning next month. Anna Taylor’s yoga class is from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Monday, Sept. 8, and tai chi classes are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays.
Clare Clark’s youth Play Date is from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3. This Kalispel Tribe-sponsored class is free for youth ages 8 to 12.
A kimekomi class is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept.
13, during which Pend Oreille Arts Council Artist of the Year Jenni Barry will guide students in the unique fabric art.
A free demonstration Wing Chun class is from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, with regular weekly classes beginning Saturday, Nov. 8 then meeting on Friday evening.
Instructor Karl Winter will guide students through the core elements of Wing Chun: balance, internal structure precise positioning and sensitivity. His teaching style combines disciplined training with a supportive, welcoming atmosphere — ideal for both beginners and experiences martial artists. Youth at least 12 years old will be accepted.
