YOUR OPINION

Maybe there’s a reason

Regarding the Aug. 27 letter to the editor (Obama made no peace deals, still got Nobel Peace Prize, Glen Pierce) concerning the Nobel Peace Prize. Has the writer considered that the prize committee may be hesitant to award this prestigious honor to a convicted felon and sexual predator?

Weaponized empathy

Empathy is a virtue that is being weaponized against those of us who truly care. It’s insidious by design. The pattern is consistent: Present an emotional story. Frame any opposition as cruel and harmful. Rebrand neutrality as complicity. Make the policy solution an empathy test.

A trans person just shot up a school. Notice how fast the narrative shifts away from the victims.

No mention of grieving parents whose kids’ lives were tragically cut short. Instead, the focus is “protecting the trans community from backlash.”

Take immigration. They say: “It’s just families seeking a better life.” Ok… until you learn about the fentanyl, gangs, or human trafficking. But if you mention those issues, suddenly you’re “heartless and racist.”

We see homeless people on the streets. They say, “These are vulnerable people with nowhere else to go.” So cities allow open drug use, tents, and crime. If anyone questions this, they’re accused of “lacking compassion” as entire neighborhoods suffer.

Take any crime. The media generates empathy for criminals rather than the victims. “They just made a mistake.” Should you mention accountability, suddenly you’re “ignoring systemic oppression.”

When empathy becomes selective and politicized, it’s no longer compassion; it’s manipulative control.

Obama actually did something for diplomacy

I wanted to respond to Glen Pierce’s letter from last week regarding the Nobel Peace Prize, and how he seemed to imply Obama was undeserving and Trump was being snubbed. Google says Obama was awarded for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” How has Trump’s diplomacy played out?

On Iran, Trump scrapped the nuclear treaty Obama negotiated, and then bombed military and nuclear facilities before strong-arming Iran to accept a ceasefire with Israel. India has denied that Trump played any role in reaching a ceasefire deal with Pakistan to end days of conflict. Egypt and Ethiopia have no deal to settle the root of their conflict. And Serbia has denied it had any plans to pursue a war with Kosovo, although Trump took credit for preventing one. That’s 5. By the time this is printed, Trump will likely claim the number is 8 or 10.

So, yeah, Trump is inept at diplomacy and any claim to a Nobel is nonsense.

And if Pierce really questions the accuracy and security of mail ballots, I suggest he contact the county auditor from either of the two counties he lists as home and ask if they agree.

Cleaning up

Trump moved the National Guard into DC to assist the police in reducing crime. He then allowed them to carry weapons. Mayor Bowser was initially against this as she said DC didn’t have a crime problem. She has since capitulated as DC went 11 straight nights without a murder and over 1,000 arrests have been made.

They are also seizing illegal weapons and drugs. In addition, they are cleaning up garbage and graffiti. DC has gone from the worst to the safest city in a couple of weeks. Residents of DC like this.

Polls show a majority of Americans approve of this action. Americans want to see this in other cities such as New York, Chicago and Philadelphia to name a few. Dem Mayors and Governors don’t want this as they will never get elected again.

Meanwhile, Tulsi has found a trove of election rigging evidence.

She has found many ‘burn’ bags that were never destroyed. Clapper and Brennan as well as others were in these documents. She promised the President in a Cabinet meeting that as soon as she had them put together she would brief him and then they would be released to the public. Election fraud.

Everything in our lives made political

Republicans are getting political points for the Florida traffic accident caused by an illegal alien semi-truck driver who made a U-turn blocking the highway, and a minivan hit head-on into side of the trailer killing three people.

How did a traffic accident become a national headline story? The alien driver had a CDL but that didn’t prevent him from making a bad mistake. No one in the right-wing media political outrage machine asked why the car didn’t stop and ran straight into the trailer at high speed. Turning a large semi-truck takes at least 30 seconds, so why didn’t the driver of the car just stop?

Why didn’t he see the huge truck blocking the road?

No, according to right-wing media the cause of the accident is the illegal alien who shouldn’t have been in the USA with a CDL. Any American citizen truck driver could have made that improper U-turn. So, why not say that the citizen driver was allowed to be born as the cause of the accident? Perhaps, his mother wanted an abortion that was blocked by Republican created bans.

That’s the problem with making everything in our lives political.
