NEWPORT – The Create Center for the Arts will host regional artists with items for sale Sunday, Sept. 14, from noon to 3 p.m. Ben Kardos will provide live music and there will be refreshments offered.

Romance Book Club meets Friday
NEWPORT — Moonlit Reads: A Romance Book Club is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at the Newport Library. Join up after hours for a book club where love is always on the page. From sweet to steamy, this romance book club welcomes all spice levels and all kinds of happily ever after. Each month, the club reads a new romance novel — chosen together by the group — then meet to swoon, sigh, and share their thoughts. Bring your favorite tropes, hot takes and love for love stories.
This month the club discussing “Part of Your World” by Abby Jimenez. To borrow a copy of the book, check it out at the nearest Pend Oreille County Library District branch.

Cider and Pie and Bears, Oh My!
USK — The Pend Oreille County Library District is hosting Cider and Pie and Bears, Oh My from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Usk Community Hall.
Bring apples and a container to press your own cider with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife as part of their nuisance abatement efforts. Then enter the library’s apple cooking contest. Bring your favorite apple food for others to taste and vote for a winner. Anything with apples as a key ingredient (pies, cobblers, salads, etc.) can be entered.

Viking Faire this Saturday
NEWPORT — Let’s Vike It, a Viking era faire, is coming to Oldtown Rotary Park at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13.
The event will host Viking age demonstrations, entertainers and vendors. There will be a history of the Norse people in the history tent, shield-making, ironworking, games, storytelling and more. The faire is family-friendly and there is no entry fee.
Trivia Night at YES
NEWPORT — Youth Emergency Services of Pend Oreille County is hosting a trivia night 3–5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19. People can come as a team or come alone and join a team. There will be free snacks. This event is open to youth 12–24.

Saddle up for Stick Horse Rodeo

Bike Rodeo for children this Saturday
NEWPORT — The 11th Annual Newport Area Bike Rodeo is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at Sadie Halstead Middle School. Children should bring their own bicycles for this bike safety event where they receive a free helmet, bike maintenance check, safety instruction, prizes, healthy snacks and more. The bike rodeo is for grades kindergarten through sixth.
