Spartans crack top 10 at Bonners Ferry

BONNERS FERRY – Priest River cross-country had a good showing at the Bonners Ferry Invite Saturday, Sept. 13, with the girls’ team winning third place overall in their category with 44 points. The Spartans competed against Newport, Kellogg, Kootenai and host Bonners Ferry. Senior Capri White was in sixth place with a time of 23:58. Senior Kyla White followed in eighth place with a time of 25:08. Junior Alannah McLaimtaig was 10th at 26:14 and freshman Maiyu Smith was 14th at 27:49. Classmate Abagail Shaulis was 16th at 27:57. Juniors Breelyn Duran and Sakura Smith were 18th and 19th with times of 28:48 and 30:19, respectively. Junior Daniel Gunkle finished sixth place with a time of 19:55 in the boys’ varsity 5,000-meter race, followed by freshman Tadhg McLaimtaig in seventh at 19:56. Sophomore Maxwell Hewitt was 12th at 22:13. Junior Jonathan White was 17th with a time of 24:14.

The Spartans will be at the CAN-AM Invitational in Kettle Falls on Saturday, Sept. 20. Varsity races start at 11:40 a.m.
