NEWPORT – A non-injury hit and run collision occurred Monday, Sept.
8 13.5 miles southwest of Newport. According to the Washington State Patrol, a vehicle struck a pole, causing the pole to fall on to Highway 2, partially blocking the roadway. The driver fled the scene. The pole was later struck by another vehicle and a semi. It is not known if drugs and alcohol were involved, and a suspect hasn’t been located as of newspaper deadline Sept. 16.
