NEWPORT – The Newport Grizzlies volleyball team played three time last week, winning two and losing one.
They started the week at home with a 3-set sweep of Chewelah Tuesday, Sept 16.
Thursday, Sept. 18, they made the trip to Davenport, where they lost in three sets to the Gorillas.
They returned home to play Riverside Saturday, Sept. 20, getting a four set win.
After a strong 25-5 first set win, Riverside won the next set 25-23. Newport picked it back up, taking the third and fourth sets 25-10 and 25-20.
Kayla Earl had a half dozen aces against Riverside to go along with her game high 12 kills. Lily Jenkins led the Grizzlies with four blocks, Grace Keck had 14 digs and Kenna Aurthur had a game high 10 assists.
The win gives Newport a 4-2 overall record. They are 2-1 in Northeast 2B North League play.
The Grizzlies played Northwest Christian Tuesday and will face Reardan for a homecoming match Thursday, Sept. 25. That match starts at 6:30 p.m.
Newport takes on Priest River at home Monday, Sept. 29, also at 6:30 p.m.
