FIRE SMOKE ONLY: S. 7th Ave., report of dark-colored smoke about one-fourth of a mile south of this location.
TIMBER FIRE: McGowen Rd., Newport, report that tree was possibly struck by lightning and there were flames but now the tree is smoldering.
THEFT: Westside Calispel Rd., report that black Suzuki Verona was stolen this morning sometime between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Hwy.
20, report that person had heard subjects screaming and yelling at each other for the last half hour.
ARREST: S. Garden Ave., Newport, Chad D. Cotter, 47, of Elk was arrested on a local conference.
SMOKE: Deer Valley Rd., Newport, Department of Natural Resources aircraft spotted a small column in the area they are sending an engine.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 23
ILLEGAL BURNING: Hwy. 2 & Allen Rd, report that subject has a fire in the medium.
ARREST: Stateline Cutoff Rd., Newport, Ethan J. Reimer, 45, of Newport was arrested for fourth-degree assault domestic violence.
ARREST: W. 5th St., Newport, a wanted juvenile was arrested.
TRESPASSING: S. Washington Ave., Newport, report of several subjects on back dock, would like them removed.
ARREST: S. Garden Ave., Newport, Joshua L Gilbert, 46, of Newport was arrested on a Department of Corrections detainer.
THREATENING: Coyote Trail, Newport, report that subject placed a gate across a shared easement without permission and threatened to shoot her when gate was left open.
ANIMAL PROBLEM: Down Memory Lane, Newport, report that a dog came from the neighbor’s house and attacked their chickens and killed one.
FIRE SMOKE ONLY: Valley View Drive & Coyote Trail, report of smoke coming from the trees, smells like pine needles, 100 feet from intersection, behind the mailboxes.
