Panthers at Battle for the 509

SPOKANE – The Cusick cross-country team took to the Spokane Polo Grounds for the

8th Annual Battle for the 509 Saturday, Oct. 4. Antony Seale, a freshman, finished at 114th with a time of 27:49 in the boys’ 5,000-meter novice race. Classmate James Lilya followed in 185th place at 22:37 in the

5,000-meter junior varsity silver race. Freshman Nick Sandwick was 142nd at 19:36 in the boys’

5,00-meter varsity red race (for those finishing with an average above 18 minutes). Junior Richard Sandwick came in 100th place at

17:21 in the boys’ 5,000-meter varsity championship race (average below 18 minutes).

Cusick competed at the NE

1B/2B League Meet in Newport after the newspaper’s deadline. The team travels to the District

6 1B Championships at Valley Christian High School Friday, Oct.
