SPOKANE - The Priest River cross-country team was on the road last week, culminating in the Annual Battle for the 509 in Spokane Saturday, Oct. 4. Senior Capri White finished in 125th place, clocking in at 22:57 in the girls’ 5,000 Meters Varsity Red (team average above 21:30).
In the boys’ 5,000 Meters Varsity Red (average above 18 minutes), junior Daniel Gunkle finished in 115th at 19:14.
Earlier last week Priest River was at the Ben Castro Invite at the Pinehurst Golf Course Thursday, Oct. 2. Freshman Tadhg McLaimtaig won first place in the boys’ 5,000-meter varsity race, clocking in at 17:36. Gunkle was fifth at 18:17 and Hewitt was 12th at 20:36.
The Spartan girls’ team came in second place overall with 41 points, beating out Kootenai.
Capri White was in sixth place at 22:39. Senior Kyla White was in eighth place at 22:51. Alannah McLaimtaig came in 10th with a time of 23:31. Freshman Maiyu Smith finished 14th at 26:12, junior Breelyn Duran was 15th at 26:17, and freshman Abagail Shaulis was 16th at 26:26. Priest River has no meets scheduled this week.
