NORTHPORT – The SelPort Lumberjacks will play Wellpinit Friday, Oct. 10 at Northport, a home game for SelPort, a combination of Selkirk and Northport school districts.

An Oct. 3 game with Odessa was cancelled by SelPort.

Spartans play Timberlake twice this week

PRIEST RIVER – The Priest River Lady Spartans soccer team did not play last week. Priest River traveled to Timberlake Tuesday after the newspaper’s deadline. The Spartans will in turn host Timberlake for a game Thursday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m., then travel to Coeur d’Alene Friday, Oct. 10 for a game at 6 p.m.

Priest River volleyball season continues

PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River Lamanna Senior High School volleyball team is continuing their season this week. The Spartans next visit Orofino at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10. Their last game of the week is against Grangeville, who Priest River visits at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.

Running Grizzlies gather no moss

SPOKANE – Grizzly runners were busy last week, competing in the eight Annual Battle for the 509 in Spokane Saturday, Oct. 4 and the NE2B League Meet in Chewelah Tuesday, Sept. 30. In the boys’ 5,000-meter novice race (over 25 minutes) freshman Leif Axel placed 64th with a time of 25 minutes. Sophomore Logan Rheinford was 143rd at 35:16. Classmate Olivia Collins came in 21st place in the girls’ 5,000-meter varsity red race (team average above 21:30) with a time of 20:42. Aimee Busby, a senior, was in 23rd place at 20:44. Sophomore Sophia Peaker was 157th at 24:13. Senior Savannah Garris had a time of 26:19 earning her 197th place. Kasey St. Andre, a junior, came in 203rd at 26:59. Classmate Aurelia Johnson was in 205th place with a time of 27:13. Sophomore Allysah Bays was in 207th place with a time of 27:35.

Earlier last week at the NE2B League Meet No. 2 North at 49 Degrees Mountain Resort, Collins and Busby cracked the top 10 in the girls’ 5,000-meter varsity race with Collins finishing seventh at 25:22, with Busby just a fraction behind in eighth place. Garris was 18th at 29:16.

In the boys’ 5,000-meter varsity race senior William Rheinford finished 23rd with a time of 23:47. Classmate Donovan Mason was in 39th at 26:11. Axel came in 44th at 26:57.

The Grizzlies hosted the NE 1B/2B League Meet Tuesday after the newspaper’s deadline. They have no meets scheduled until the District 6 NE/2B League Championship in Reardan on Oct. 17.
