Newport volleyball wins again

NEWPORT — The Newport High School volleyball team took home another win last week.

The Grizzlies visited the Kettle Falls Bulldogs Thursday, Oct. 2, winning by 25-11, 25-12 and 25-12.

They came motivated to win, Newport coach Kathy Eggleston says, working together well with goals for plays.

“This team is really excelling at becoming one,” Eggleston says. “They are a fun group to coach and watch. They really enjoy this game.”

Newport’s game against Kettle Falls was Lindsay-Rose Collison’s, Eggleston says.

Collison didn’t let anything over the net and made the Bulldogs regret every overpass. She got six kills, two ace serves, one block and one dig for the Grizzlies.

“She went on a couple long serve runs and is a strong support for the team,” Eggleston says. “Her attitude and work ethic are hard to beat.”

Other lead players included Abby Martin with four ace serves and three digs, Marri Hinchliff with two kills, Grace Parry with five kills, three blocks and two digs, Kaylia Earl with seven kills, two digs and one ace serve, Bella Boyd with three ace serves, one dig, one kill and one assist and Kenna Arthur with 14 assists, two digs, one ace serve, one kill and one block.

They had another game against St. George’s, who they hosted Tuesday, Oct. 7 after The Miner’s weekly deadline.

Newport next visits Northwest Christian at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14.
