Handful of contested races in Pend Oreille County election

NEWPORT — Ballots are about to go out Oct. 15 in Pend Oreille County for the upcoming General Election, concluding Nov. 3, in which there are only a few contested races. All of the positions, contested or not, are nonpartisan.

Positions with two candidates include Metaline Falls mayor, between Walter Minsal and Sherice McAnerin; Metaline Falls councilmember position 2, between Mark Lockwood and Robbin Witty; Ione councilmember position 5, between Ken Timmerick and Cory McNeal; Cusick councilmember position 1, between Everett Alford and Afton Servas; Newport councilmember position 1, between John Spring and Nathan Weathers and Fire District 4 commissioner, position 4, between Alan Thompson and JoAnn Boggs.
