Newport schools conducting bond survey

NEWPORT — The Newport School Board is conducting a survey to gather feedback on a series of facility improvements under consideration, most of which would be funded by a $48.4 million bond.

The board aims to file the bond for February 2026, which gives them a filing deadline of December 12 this year. Before then, the board wants to hear from the entire Newport community, hence the survey. Community members must complete the survey through the district’s website, www.newportgriz. com, by Friday, Oct. 17. Those who take the survey are asked how much they prioritize each of the proposed projects: safety and security improvements to Stratton Elementary and Sadie Halstead Middle Schools, outdoor activity improvements and the preservation and modernization of Newport High School. They also have the option to submit questions and comments about certain facility improvements.

The survey takes a few minutes to complete. Answers may be edited at any time while the survey is active.
