NEWPORT — To inform their peers of the dangers of fentanyl in Pend Oreille County and wider eastern Washington, students at Newport High School organized the annual Fentanyl Awareness Day.

This year, the event was Thursday, Oct. 9 and featured guest speakers ranging from the district’s school resource officer to a recovering fentanyl addict. (See related story.)
