Cusick resort receives state tourism award

CUSICK — The owner and operator of Ruby Creek Resort, a boutique recreational vehicle resort and waterfront retreat in Cusick, was honored with the inaugural Outstanding Customer Service award by Washington State Tourism.

Jake Abbott was recognized for his commitment to exceptional hospitality, which has defined Ruby Creek Resort since its opening in 2023. His award was presented at the annual Tourism Conference in Spokane, a three-day industry event where tourism professionals statewide can network and share best practices.

“We believe exceptional service is fundamentally about connecting with people and are very proud to bring this level of recognition to the Northeast Washington tourism community,” Abbott said in a Port of Pend Oreille news release.

Ruby Creek Resort quickly established itself as one of the Inland Northwest’s premier destinations by consistently delivering warm, personalized guest experiences along the Pend Oreille River, according to the news release. Online reviews frequently praise the “immaculate grounds,” “breathtaking views” and “wonderful hosts” for making every stay memorable.

The quality of services Abbott provides at Ruby Creek Resort directly reflects the professionalism and high standards that the state seeks to promote within its growing tourism sector, according to the news release.

Offering full hook-up, waterfront RV sites, bunkhouse rentals and 1,000 feet of river frontage, Ruby Creek Resort serves as a gateway to the Colville National Forest and an abundance of outdoor recreational activities. Reservations for the highly anticipated 2026 season, beginning May 1, 2026, are currently being accepted.

“This award is a recognition of the core values we built Ruby Creek Resort upon,” Abbott said in the news release. “Hospitality isn’t just about having nice amenities or beautiful scenery; it’s about creating a true sense of community and ensuring every guest feels welcomed and cared for.”
