NEWPORT — Dozens of students from across Pend Oreille and West Bonner Counties entered last week’s Pend Oreille County Science Fair, which encouraged students to build their own science displays and present their projects to judges from the community. Viewable by the public the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 24, projects were on display in the Stratton Elementary School library and gymnasium in Newport.

Judges graded each project based on the student’s trifold board and oral presentation. Then, awards were distributed per grade group, K–1, 2–4, 5–8 and 9–12, with a grand prize winner and special awards for top projects in each category.
