NEWPORT —Pend Oreille Public Utility District is holding a public hearing to review the draft Clean Energy Implementation Plan and discuss results from a recent public survey on clean energy.
The public hearing is at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the PUD Board Room, 130 N. Washington Ave. in Newport, during PUD’s regularly scheduled Board of Commissioners meeting. The meeting starts at 8:30 a.m. For a virtual option, visit popud.org/top-links/ about-your-pud/commissioners- and-meetings/ meeting-information.
The CEIP outlines how PUD will meet state clean energy requirements under the Clean Energy Transformation Act. PUD’s public hearing will include a presentation of survey findings, which helped identify local priorities such as affordability, energy efficiency and equitable access to programs for customers with higher energy burdens.
Following the public hearing, the draft CEIP will be refined and made available for public review and comment later this winter.
Cooperating where it counts soup kitchen Nov. 6
NEWPORT – Brad Hanson and Patti Monk are organizing a free Shutdown Soup Kitchen set for Thursday, Nov. 6, from 4-5 p.m. at the Hospitality House in Newport.
Hanson says he and Monk, who are good friends, have different political viewpoints.
“She’s from the left and I’m from the right,” he says. “So, we’re cooperating where it counts.”
Hanson says they intend to approach area churches for donations for the soup kitchen. For more information, contact the Hospitality House at 509-447-3812.
